summer!
buggy bumping over chalk pictures,
ice cream painting chins and elbows --
summer!
air swirling moist around bare knees,
sun heating white sky without shadows --
summer!
head bobbing heavy as soother flutters,
salt licking lips as front door opens --
summer!
baby sprawled across cool blankets,
big girls sipping watermelon slush --
